More than a Yoga Retreat

Much more than just a yoga retreat in the lush green mountains of Sri Lanka, Mamma Shanti is a little piece of magic…….

Life is full of magic, if we only open our eyes to see and our senses to perceive. It’s in
the fireflies that dance with the stars in the night, incense that sweetens the scent of
temples, the soft echoe of chanting across the lush mountainside, energy of one
hundred years imbued in a tree… Mamma Shanti is my proof that magic is real.

My name is Camilla, and I’m the soul mamma of Mamma Shanti – a unique retreat
space and guest house in the tea tangled foothills of Ella, Sri Lanka. Since starting my
travels in 2015, I’d been on a mission to help others make their dreams come true .
Until one day, I asked myself what my biggest, most daring dream was. How could I
truly help others live their best life if I hadn’t first reached the other side?

So I got going with my biggest manifestation yet…


Mamma Shanti the Yoga Retreat is born….

Sitting in a lakeside treehouse, in Kandy Sri Lanka, as the stars mingled in the waters
below and the sky above, a word drifted into my conscience.

It was a message echoing in the stars around me, and I was ready to listen. The more I
pondered on it, the more illumination I received, and an idea started forming in my

After two years of travelling, it was time for me to pursue my purpose for being on this
planet – helping others to be as happy and as peaceful as they possibly can be, living
as the grandest version of themselves.



Since a young age I’d believed in magic. 29 years on and not much has changed.
Except that now I know it’s real. It’s not make-believe. And this is my own personal
proof that life can be whatever you want it to be.

You can have anything you want.
You can be happy.
Life can be an incredible journey.

It’s all a matter of choice, being clear in what you want and then believing it’s already
yours. Mamma Shanti is my way of sharing my magic with the world.

I invite everyone who crosses our threshold to experience a different way of being, a
different way of experiencing, a different way of living. If only for a night, a couple of
days or even a few weeks, to live fully immersed in the healing energy of nature, to
take time to reconnect to earth and yourself, to switch off from the system and plug in
to your soul.

Bearfoot Breaks – Bootcamp Retreat and more

Bearfoot Breaks is a beautiful retreat centre, based in the centre of France in the Limousin countryside. Our aim is to offer tailored fitness and wellness retreats for individuals or small groups. By keeping things small, we can keep things personal and make sure that each guest receives individual attention from our on-site personal trainer, movement enthusiast and nutrition coach, Jake Duval.


Why Bearfoot Breaks?


Bearfoot Breaks was created to enable us to share our passion for all things health related. Kirsty has the hosting and cooking skills, and Jake lives and breaths all matters related to health. Originally coming from a personal trainer background, Jake only got to spend time with people in the gym, knowing that this small window of time, simply wasn’t enough. Coming to the lodge, and spending 3-5 days engulfed in a holistic health approach will give your body the experience that it continuously needs.

So whether you are simply looking to get it away from it all and give yourself some true “me time” or whether you’re looking for an alternative type of break, for a small group, pre-wedding, birthday celebration or preparing for a big event, then this is the place for you!


So what can you expect?


Our luxury yurt at Bearfoot Lodge

Before you arrive, you’ll have a call with Jake so he can get to know more about you, understand what you’re trying to achieve and what you like or dislike. That way he can put together a programme that is tailored just to you or to your group. On the first day of the retreat, he’ll do a full body movement assessment and GAIT analysis and each day will start with a body check in, to see what differences you can feel. Each day will consist of a range of different fitness activities, with most, if not all being done in the great outdoors. So imagine the equivalent of three personal training sessions a day, it could be TRX, HIIT, obstacle course, circuits, or lake running – all with the fresh air on your face, allowing you to reconnect with nature.


Perfect Setting


We’re surrounded by stunning scenery, with lakes, hills and forest walks a plenty. We’ll build these guided walks into your days and you can experience the French lakeside beaches, and even have a go at kayaking or paddle-boarding in the summer months.

Ready and waiting to be run around or swum in

And when you’ve had enough exercise? Well you’ll have the grounds to explore and chill out in, with secret nooks and hammocks, where you can disappear with a good book. Or you can explore the medieval towns and villages, or take a visit to one of our local goat farms, where you can see how the cheese is made, the goats are cared for and even sample the local honey!

And finally, you’ll dine like a king or queen, with super tasty organic meals, fresh juices or smoothies and some fantastic ideas to take back home with you, like making your own almond milk. Our aim is for you to leave the retreat feeling energised, healthier and with a renewed passion for life.
